What treatment is there for shin splints? Are there exercises for my shin splints?

Rest, ice and the correct footwear are usually the most common remedy.

A change in exercise regiment (e.g. cease exercising on hard surfaces) also will help with shin splint relief.

Cold laser therapy, massage and manipulation of the foot and ankle (often a cause of leg pain) can help those with pain get immediate relief.

Orthotics may be needed if the feet have too high or low arches (flat feet) resulting in repetitive stress on the shin bones.
